A yearly median tuition of $7,917 is charged by schools with online engineering programs around the country. There has been a 23.9% increase in the median tuition in recent years. The yearly median tuition was $6,390 at these online colleges in 2007.

Online engineering colleges can also be referred to as Engineering Sciences colleges. The range of tuition at online engineering colleges is shown in the following chart. Tuition is shown from the least to most affordable colleges and universities.

A yearly tuition of over $15,720 is charged by the costliest schools that offer online engineering programs. On the other end of the spectrum, tuition at the cheapest schools is in the range of $2,610 to $5,124 per annum. Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina are home to the least expensive accredited online engineering schools.

In 2011, these affordable programs graduated a reported 22% of engineering graduates from online colleges and universities in the nation. Therefore, of the 1,685,179 graduates from around the US, 366,343 are from the most inexpensive schools. From 2006 to 2011, the number of engineering graduates from the least costly online schools has increased by 24,693 graduates per year. However, the percentage of graduates from these schools has decreased.

Yearly tuition in the range of $5,256 to $7,568 is charged by other somewhat more costly online engineering schools. An estimated 22 of the 94 online schools that offer engineering programs in the US charge tuition in this range.

In 2011, 24.1%, or 406,371 of the country’s engineering graduates received their credentials from these reasonably priced online programs. Only 5 years prior, in 2006, the number of students graduating from these colleges was as much as 449,101. Thus, the number of graduates from these low tuition online colleges has decreased by 10%.
