Colleges in the US that have online education programs require students to pay an average tuition of $11,697 per year. The average tuition has increased by 16.5% in recent years. The annual average tuition at these online schools in 2007 was $10,042.

Online education schools are also known as Education Administration and Teaching schools. The following graph shows the range of tuition at online education colleges from most to least expensive:

Tuition of more than $21,510 yearly is charged by the most expensive online education colleges. On the other end of the spectrum, tuition in the range of $728 to $4,384 each year is charged by the cheapest schools. The accredited online education schools that are the most inexpensive are located in Arizona, California, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Texas.

This represents 924,184 of the 4,644,929 graduates in the nation. From 2006 to 2011, the percentage of education graduates from the most inexpensive online schools has decreased. However, the number of graduates has increased by 56,738 graduates per year.

Other somewhat more expensive online education schools charge students tuition ranging from $4,433 to $8,322 yearly. Of the 479 online colleges and universities that have education programs in the nation, 115 have tuition in this range.

Approximately 1,710,613 students earned their degrees from these low tuition online programs in 2011. This is 37% of the nation’s education graduates. The number of graduates from these schools was only 1,386,337 students, just 5 years earlier, in 2006. This is a 23% increase in the number of students graduating from these reasonably priced online schools.
