A per annum median tuition of $11,160 is charged by colleges and universities with online masters degree programs across the nation. The median tuition has increased by 14.5% in recent years. The annual median tuition at these schools in 2007 was $9,744.

The most expensive colleges that have online masters degrees require students to pay a yearly tuition of over $23,904. However, the cheapest colleges and universities charge students per annum tuition costs ranging from $970 to $5,731. The most inexpensive online accredited masters degree schools are located in Florida, Massachusetts, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Texas.

Therefore, of the 7,038,354 graduates from around the US, 2,175,966 are from the least costly schools. Between 2006 and 2011, the number of graduates with masters degrees from the least expensive colleges has increased by 249,540 graduates yearly, while the percentage of graduates from these colleges has decreased.

Tuition ranging from $5,760 to $12,204 per year is charged by other somewhat more expensive online masters degree schools. Of the 767 online colleges and universities that have masters level programs in the nation, 227 have tuition in this range.

Approximately 35.4% of the nation’s masters level graduates earned their degrees from these low tuition online programs in 2011. This represents 2,494,304 students. The number of graduates from these schools was only 2,164,065 students, just 5 years earlier, in 2006. Thus, from these low tuition online colleges and universities, the number of graduates has increased by 15%.
