Colleges and universities across the nation offering online telecommunications programs charge students an average tuition of $12,704 per year. The average tuition has decreased by 12.7% in recent years. In 2007, the annual average tuition was $14,559 at these online schools.

Tuition of more than $19,890 annually is charged by the most expensive online telecommunications colleges. The accredited online telecommunications schools that are the least costly are located in Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Of all telecommunications graduates from online colleges across the country, a reported 14% graduated from these affordable programs in 2011. Therefore, of the 220,970 graduates from across the country, 30,553 are from the most inexpensive colleges. From 2006 to 2011, the number of telecommunications graduates from the least costly online colleges has decreased by 11,437 graduates per annum. However, the percentage of graduates from these colleges has increased.

Tuition ranging from $9,720 to $10,380 yearly is charged by other somewhat more expensive online telecommunications colleges and universities. Of the 53 online colleges and universities with telecommunications programs in the nation, 16 offer programs with tuition in this range.

In 2011, 15.5%, or 34,289 of the country’s telecommunications graduates received their certificates from these cheap online programs. The number of students graduating from these colleges was only 26,117 students in 2006, which was only 5 years prior. Thus, from these affordable online colleges and universities, the number of graduates has increased by 31%.
