Tuition of more than $29,226 annually is charged by the most expensive colleges and universities offering online masters degree in nursing programs. On the other hand, per annum tuition ranging from $7,148 to $15,285 is charged by the cheapest colleges and universities. Georgia and Michigan are home to the least expensive accredited online nursing masters degree schools.

Between 2006 and 2011, the percentage of nursing graduates with masters degrees from the lowest cost online colleges has decreased, while the number of graduates has increased by 9,736 graduates yearly.

Yearly tuition in the range of $16,500 to $16,792 is charged by other somewhat more costly online nursing masters degree colleges and universities. Of the 9 online colleges and universities that have masters degrees in nursing programs in the nation, 2 have tuition in this range.

In 2011, 42.1%, or 62,716 of the country’s nursing masters level graduates received their certificates from these cheap online programs. Only 16,811 students graduated from these schools, just 5 years earlier, in 2006.
