Online Masters Degree Programs in MSN That are Low Cost

The average tuition charged by colleges in the US offering online masters degree in advanced nursing programs is $12,988 yearly. There has been a 27.4% increase in the average tuition over the past few years. In 2007, the yearly average tuition was $10,198 at these online colleges.

Online masters degree in advanced nursing colleges can also be referred to as Masters of Science in Nursing colleges. The range of tuition at colleges offering online MSN programs at the masters level is shown in the following chart. Tuition is shown from the most to least expensive colleges and universities.

A yearly tuition of over $21,940 is charged by the costliest online masters degree in advanced nursing colleges and universities. On the other hand, annual tuition ranging from $1,714 to $5,610 is charged by the cheapest schools. The least costly accredited online advanced nursing masters degree schools are located in Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Massachusetts, and Virginia.

These cheap programs graduated an estimated 30% of advanced nursing graduates with masters degrees from online schools around the US in 2011. Therefore, of the 1,159,624 graduates from across the country, 346,838 are from the least costly colleges. From 2006 to 2011, the percentage of advanced nursing graduates with masters degrees from the most inexpensive online colleges and universities has decreased. However, the number of graduates has increased by 66,881 graduates each year.

Other somewhat more costly online advanced nursing masters degree schools charge a yearly tuition in the range of $5,652 to $9,400. Of the 94 online colleges and universities that have masters degrees in advanced nursing programs in the nation, 19 have tuition in this range.

In 2011, 338,066 students received their certificates from these cheap online programs. This represents 29% of the country’s advanced nursing masters level graduates. A short 5 years prior, in 2006, the number of students graduating from these colleges and universities was only 291,302. Thus, from these low tuition online colleges and universities, the number of graduates has increased by 16%.
