Colleges and universities across the nation that have online education programs require students to pay an average tuition of $11,705 per year. In recent years, the average tuition has increased. This change in tuition was approximately 15.3%. The average tuition per annum was $10,149 at these online colleges and universities in 2007.

A yearly tuition of over $21,550 is charged by the costliest online education colleges and universities. However, annual tuition ranging from $728 to $4,441 is charged by the cheapest schools. Arizona, California, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Texas are home to the lowest cost accredited online education schools.

A reported 36.9%, or 1,627,182 of the nation’s education graduates earned their degrees and certificates from these affordable online programs in 2011. Only 1,307,272 students earned credentials from these colleges and universities in 2006, which was a short 5 years prior. This is a 25% increase in the number of students graduating from these reasonably priced online schools.
