Schools around the country that offer online training, certification and certificate in accounting programs charge a median tuition of $8,532 per year. The median tuition has increased, over the past few years, by 93.1%. The per annum median tuition was $4,419 at these online colleges and universities in 2007.

Online certificate and training /certificate in accounting schools are also known as CPA and accountancy schools. Below, the chart displays the tuition range for colleges offering online accounting programs at the certification and certificate/certification level from highest to lowest cost:

Tuition of more than $13,376 per year is charged by the most expensive online certificate and training /certificate in accounting colleges. On the other end of the spectrum, per annum tuition at the cheapest colleges and universities is in the range of $800 to $3,120. The least costly accredited online accounting certification schools are located in Florida, Nebraska, North Carolina, Texas, and Wyoming.

Of all accounting graduates with training and certification from online colleges across the country, approximately 19% graduated from these low tuition programs in 2011. Therefore, of the 236,780 graduates in the nation, 43,855 are from the least costly colleges and universities. From 2006 to 2011, the number of accounting graduates with certification and certificate /certificate from the least costly online colleges and universities has increased by 4,228 graduates each year. However, the percentage of graduates from these colleges and universities has decreased.

Other somewhat more expensive cost online accounting certification and training colleges charge students tuition ranging from $3,137 to $4,528 each year. Tuition in this range is charged by 11 of the 61 online colleges that offer training in accounting programs in the country.

In 2011, 12.9% of the country’s accounting certification and certificate/certification level graduates received their credentials from these reasonably priced online programs. This represents 30,566 students. The number of graduates from these colleges and universities was only 23,360 students, a short 5 years earlier, in 2006. Thus, the number of graduates from these affordable online colleges has increased by 31%.
