Colleges and universities across the nation that have online masters degree in science programs require students to pay an average tuition of $9,604 per year. There has been a 16.3% increase in the average tuition over the past few years. In 2007, the average tuition at these online colleges was $8,257 per year.

Tuition of more than $9,794 per annum is charged by the most expensive online masters degree in science colleges. On the other end of the spectrum, the cheapest colleges and universities require students to pay per annum tuition costs in the range of $1,454 to $4,319. The accredited online science masters degree schools that are the least costly are located in Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and South Dakota.

These cheap programs graduated an estimated 20% of science graduates with masters degrees from online schools around the US in 2011. This represents 414,165 of the 2,064,759 graduates from across the country. Between 2006 and 2011, the number of science graduates with masters degrees from the least expensive online colleges has increased by 9,349 graduates yearly, while the percentage of graduates from these colleges has decreased.

Other somewhat more expensive online science masters degree schools charge students tuition ranging from $4,680 to $6,486 yearly. Approximately 27 of the 98 online schools offering masters degrees in science programs in the US charge tuition in this range.

In 2011, 25.5% of the nation’s science masters level graduates earned their degrees from these low tuition online programs. This represents 525,925 students. A short 5 years prior, in 2006, the number of students graduating from these colleges and universities was only 363,032. This represents a 45% increase in the number of graduates from these low tuition online schools.
