Schools around the country offering online art programs charge students a median tuition of $11,160 per year. The median tuition has increased by 25.3% in recent years. The yearly median tuition was $8,907 at these online colleges in 2007.

A yearly tuition of over $19,996 is charged by the costliest schools that have online art programs. On the other hand, tuition charged by the cheapest colleges ranges from $576 to $4,319 annually. The lowest cost accredited online art schools are located in Arizona, California, Kansas, Massachusetts, and Texas.

Of all art graduates from online colleges across the country, approximately 18% graduated from these low tuition programs in 2011. Therefore, of the 3,268,946 graduates from around the US, 588,564 are from the most inexpensive schools. From 2006 to 2011, the percentage of art graduates from the most inexpensive online schools has decreased. However, the number of graduates has increased by 8,919 graduates per year.

Yearly tuition in the range of $4,348 to $8,592 is charged by other somewhat more costly online art colleges and universities. Of the 447 online colleges and universities with art programs in the nation, 80 offer programs with tuition in this range.

Approximately 1,187,587 students earned their degrees from these low tuition online programs in 2011. This is 36% of the nation’s art graduates. In 2006, which was only 5 years earlier, only 982,977 students graduated from these colleges. This represents a 21% increase in the number of graduates from these affordable online schools.
