Colleges and universities across the nation that offer online PhD in computer science programs charge an average tuition of $18,506 per year. Over the past few years, the average tuition has increased. This change in tuition was approximately 17.2%. The per annum average tuition was $15,785 at these online colleges and universities in 2007.

At the high end, schools offering online doctoral degree in computer science programs charge students more than $31,362 in tuition per annum. However, the cheapest colleges charge students yearly tuition costs ranging from $2,870 to $4,853. The accredited online computer science doctoral degree schools that are the least costly are located in Florida, Idaho, North Carolina, and Virginia.

A reported 26% of computer science graduates with PhD from online schools around the US graduated from these affordable programs in 2011. Therefore, of the 407,034 graduates from across the country, 106,933 are from the least costly colleges. From 2006 to 2011, the percentage of computer science graduates with doctoral degrees from the most inexpensive online schools has decreased. However, the number of graduates has increased by 10,332 graduates per year.

Other somewhat more expensive cost online computer science PhD colleges charge students tuition ranging from $5,256 to $9,794 per year. Tuition in this range is charged by 4 of the 17 online colleges offering doctorate programs in computer science programs in the country.

Approximately 125,413 students earned their degrees from these low tuition online programs in 2011. This is 31% of the nation’s computer science doctoral level graduates. Only 113,425 students earned credentials from these colleges in 2006, which was only 5 years prior. Thus, the number of graduates from these affordable online colleges has increased by 11%.
