A yearly median tuition of $10,853 is charged by schools that have online nursing education programs around the country. In recent years, there has been a 72.6% increase in the median tuition. In 2007, the median tuition was $6,288 yearly at these online colleges.

A yearly tuition of over $23,950 is charged by the costliest online nursing education colleges and universities. However, tuition charged by the cheapest colleges ranges from $3,035 to $4,970 yearly. The accredited online nursing education schools that are the least costly are located in Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, and Texas.

From 2006 to 2011, the percentage of nursing education graduates from the most inexpensive online colleges and universities has decreased. However, the number of graduates has increased by 46,288 graduates each year.

Other somewhat more costly online nursing education schools charge a yearly tuition in the range of $5,124 to $10,920. Of the 34 online colleges and universities that have nursing education programs in the nation, 8 have tuition in this range.

A reported 92,847 students earned their degrees and certificates from these affordable online programs in 2011. This is 19% of the nation’s nursing education graduates. Just 5 years prior, in 2006, only 56,559 students earned credentials from these schools. Therefore, from these cheap online colleges and universities, the number of students graduating has increased by 64%.
