An annual average tuition of $9,087 is charged by colleges that offer online liberal arts programs in the US. There has been a 13.9% increase in the average tuition over the past few years. The yearly average tuition was $7,978 at these online colleges in 2007.

Online liberal arts colleges and universities are sometimes called liberal studies colleges and universities. The tuition range for online liberal arts colleges is displayed in the following graph. Tuition is shown from the most to least costly colleges and universities.

Tuition of more than $14,940 per annum is charged by the most expensive colleges and universities with online liberal arts programs. The cheapest schools, on the other hand, charge tuition in the range of $576 to $3,096 per year. The most inexpensive accredited online liberal arts schools are located in California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, and North Carolina.

In 2011, these affordable programs graduated a reported 11% of liberal arts graduates from online colleges and universities in the nation. Therefore, of the 511,114 graduates from around the US, 58,290 are from the most inexpensive schools. From 2006 to 2011, the number of liberal arts graduates from the least costly online colleges and universities has increased by 9,592 graduates each year. However, the percentage of graduates from these colleges and universities has decreased.

Yearly tuition in the range of $3,120 to $4,610 is charged by other somewhat more costly online liberal arts colleges and universities. Approximately 16 of the 63 online schools offering liberal arts programs in the US charge tuition in this range.

In 2011, 10.8% of the country’s liberal arts graduates received their credentials from these reasonably priced online programs. This represents 55,265 students. The number of graduates from these colleges was as much as 68,105 students, only 5 years earlier, in 2006. Thus, from these affordable online colleges and universities, the number of graduates has decreased by 19%.
