A per annum median tuition of $8,848 is charged by colleges and universities that offer online economics programs across the nation. The median tuition has increased, over the past few years, by 54.7%. The yearly median tuition at these onlinecolleges in 2007 was $5,719.

Tuition of more than $21,620 per year is charged by the most expensive colleges and universities with online economics programs. The cheapest colleges, however, have tuition ranging from $698 to $4,200 per annum. The accredited online economics schools that are the lowest cost are located in Arizona, California, Georgia, North Carolina, and Utah.

A reported 13% of economics graduates from online schools around the US graduated from these affordable programs in 2011. This represents 47,332 of the 376,489 graduates from across the country. From 2006 to 2011, the number of economics graduates from the least costly online schools has increased by 9,979 graduates per year. Also, the percentage of graduates from these schools has increased.

Other somewhat more costly online economics colleges and universities charge a yearly tuition in the range of $5,256 to $7,508. Tuition in this range is charged by 6 of the 31 online colleges offering economics programs in the country.

In 2011, 98,657 students received their certificates from these cheap online programs. This represents 26% of the country’s economics graduates. As much as 113,538 students earned credentials from these schools in 2006, which was just 5 years prior. Thus, from these affordable online colleges and universities, the number of graduates has decreased by 13%.
