Colleges and universities across the nation that offer online RN to BSN programs charge a median tuition of $13,434 per year. There has been a 6.6% decrease in the median tuition over the past few years. In 2007, the annual median tuition was $14,385 at these online schools.

From 2006 to 2011, the number of nursing graduates from the least costly online colleges has decreased by 4,903 graduates per annum. Also, the percentage of graduates from these colleges has decreased.

Tuition ranging from $7,148 to $11,475 annually is charged by other somewhat more expensive online RN to BSN colleges and universities. An estimated 3 of the 14 online schools that offer RN to BSN programs in the US charge tuition in this range.

In 2011, 15% of the country’s nursing graduates received their certificates from these cheap online programs. This represents 22,666 students. Just 5 years prior, in 2006, the number of students graduating from these schools was only 20,102. Thus, the number of graduates from these affordable online colleges has increased by 13%.
