An average tuition of $8,090 annually is charged by colleges and universities across the nation that offer online PhD in criminal justice programs. In recent years, there has been a 21% increase in the average tuition. The annual average tuition was $6,688 at these online schools in 2007.

Tuition of more than $9,360 per annum is charged by the most expensive online doctoral degree in criminal justice colleges. The cheapest colleges, on the other hand, require students to pay yearly tuition costs in the range of $2,870 to $5,228. Arkansas and Florida are home to the least expensive accredited online criminal justice PhD schools.

In 2011, an estimated 19% of criminal justice graduates with doctoral degrees from online colleges across the country earned credentials from these cheap programs. This represents 61,332 of the 330,681 graduates in the nation. From 2006 to 2011, the number of criminal justice graduates with PhD from the least costly online colleges and universities has increased by 23,771 graduates each year. However, the percentage of graduates from these colleges and universities has decreased.

Other somewhat more expensive cost online criminal justice doctorate program colleges and universities charge students tuition ranging from $5,423 to $7,793 per year. Tuition in this range is charged by 2 of the 9 online colleges with doctoral degrees in criminal justice programs in the country.

In 2011, 23.7% of the country’s criminal justice doctoral level graduates received their credentials from these reasonably priced online programs. This represents 78,213 students. In 2006, which was only 5 years earlier, the number of graduates from these colleges was only 33,492 students.
