Colleges and universities across the nation offering online associates degree in medical assisting programs charge students an average tuition of $11,530 per year. The average tuition has increased over the past few years. This change in tuition was around 33.5%. In 2007, the average tuition was $8,638 per year at these online colleges.

The most expensive colleges that have online associates degree in medical assisting programs require students to pay a yearly tuition of over $15,120. But, tuition in the range of $1,280 to $4,377 annually is charged by the cheapest schools. Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota are home to the lowest cost accredited online medical assisting associates degree schools.

Of all medical assisting graduates with associates degrees from online colleges across the country, approximately 16% graduated from these low tuition programs in 2011. This represents 7,581 of the 48,342 graduates in the nation. Between 2006 and 2011, the percentage of medical assisting graduates with associates degrees from the lowest cost online colleges and universities has increased, while the number of graduates has also increased by 5,044 graduates annually.

Other somewhat more costly online medical assisting associates degree schools charge a yearly tuition in the range of $4,674 to $10,785. Tuition in this range is charged by 5 of the 22 online colleges offering associates degrees in medical assisting programs in the country.

In 2011, 10.6%, or 5,146 of the country’s medical assisting associates level graduates received their certificates from these cheap online programs. A short 5 years prior, in 2006, the number of students graduating from these colleges and universities was as much as 5,686. This represents a 10% decrease in the number of graduates from these low tuition online schools.
