Online Masters Degree Programs in ESL That are Most Affordable

Schools around the country that offer online masters degree in ESL programs charge a median tuition of $12,312 per year. In recent years, the median tuition has increased by 75.9%. The median tuition annually was $7,000 at these online colleges in 2007.

The range of tuition at colleges offering online ESL programs at the masters level is shown in the following chart. Tuition is shown from the least to most affordable colleges and universities.

A yearly tuition of over $23,900 is charged by the costliest schools that offer online masters degree in ESL programs. The cheapest colleges, however, have tuition ranging from $6,964 to $7,793 yearly. Arizona is home to the least expensive accredited online ESL masters degree schools.

  • Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction – English as a Second Language: ESL/Early Childhood Education
  • Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction – English as a Second Language
  • Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction – English as a Second Language: ESL/Multicultural Education

In 2011, an estimated 43% of ESL graduates with masters degrees from online colleges across the country earned credentials from these cheap programs. This represents 89,426 of the 210,491 graduates from around the US. Between 2006 and 2011, the percentage of ESL graduates with masters degrees from the lowest cost online colleges and universities has increased, while the number of graduates has also increased by 29,608 graduates annually.

Yearly tuition in the range of $8,124 to $16,500 is charged by other somewhat more costly online ESL masters degree schools. Tuition in this range is charged by 2 of the 6 online colleges with masters degrees in ESL programs in the country.

In 2011, 34.5%, or 72,685 of the country’s ESL masters level graduates received their certificates from these cheap online programs.
