Colleges in Illinois that have online programs require students to pay an average tuition of $15,274 per year. In recent years, the average tuition has increased by 21.1%. At these online Illinois colleges and universities the average tuition per annum in 2007 was $12,614.

Tuition of more than $22,500 per annum is charged by the most expensive online colleges. The cheapest schools, on the other hand, require students to pay tuition in the range of $3,576 to $7,290 yearly. Belleville, Danville, Edwardsville, Fairfield, and Freeport are home to the least expensive accredited online schools.

Between 2006 and 2011, the number of graduates from the least expensive online colleges has increased by 15,422 graduates yearly, while the percentage of graduates from these colleges has also increased.

Other somewhat more expensive online schools charge students tuition ranging from $7,590 to $13,921 annually. Of the 46 online colleges and universities that offer programs in Illinois, 13 charge students tuition in this range.

In 2011, 34.3% of the state’s graduates received their certificates from these cheap online programs. This represents 124,145 students. As much as 129,159 students earned credentials from these schools in 2006, which was just 5 years prior. Therefore, the number of students graduating from these reasonably priced online colleges has decreased by 4%.
